When it comes to cloth diapering, finding the perfect match for your baby's needs can make all the difference. Highland Baby offers a range of options, including preflats, a variety of fitteds, and contours!
To start, there are some pros across the board of styles we carry:
- We pre-wash all fabrics to avoid shrinkage
- We source only high-quality materials
- We handcraft our diapers in TN, USA
- Every Handcrafted Highland Baby product comes with a 6 month Peace of Mind guarantee
Another thing to keep in mind is all these options require a cover to be water proof. (Good things we just dropped the Original R2 collection covers! 😉)
Let’s take a look into some of the pros and cons of each style we carry and help you figure out which is your perfect match!
Our Preflats
Pros:
Preflats are known for their trimness and offer a high level of customization in folding or rolling them to create a snug fit around the legs, ensuring a secure leg seal. Combining the features of a stretchy flat and a pre-fold, preflats allow for strategic folding to match your child's size and shape. Preflats are highly adaptable, allowing you to include an additional insert or booster (ours even come with a coordinated booster!) as your baby grows to enhance their absorbency. They also come with the ability to utilize many different folds that can concentrate the bulk of the absorbency where you need it most.
Preflats dry quickly due to their thin design, making them ideal for families without immediate access to a dryer or who prefer line drying. Additionally, because they are crafted with just a couple of layers, they also wash very easily, meaning families will benefit from having a diaper that is more forgiving when it comes to the wash routine. Don’t let the “only 2 or 3 layers” fool you though! Once you have your preflat ( and included booster if you need it) folded into its diaper shape, our preflats have 8-11 high-quality, absorbent layers ready to keep your littles leak-free and happy between diaper changes.
Cons:
Since the body of preflats are so customizable, they also require a bit more folding than other styles of diapers require. With a little practice, we’re sure anyone can get the hang of it! This isn’t necessarily a con, but preflats also do require a few extra accessories. You’ll either need a Snappi or a few pins to secure it around baby!
Our Fitteds
Pros:
Next up we have our award-winning fitteds. Customized for comfort, Highland Baby's fitted diapers are designed to pack a powerful punch of absorbency! Our fitteds provide 360 coverage and hold an impressive amount, making them ideal for heavy wetters and a reliable solution for overnight use. We started with our standard fitted that comes with TWO inserts and have added a couple more fitteds styles to our arsenal since. Including our pocket-fitted & snapless fitted, both of which come with trifold options so you can customize your absorbency.
We also carry our unique Zorb fitted. Zorb is highly absorbent due to its unique creation method, enabling the fibers to have maximum surface area. This results in not only a high capacity for holding liquid but also rapid absorption! These fitteds are ideal for heavy wetters and flooders. Zorb is also known for its quick drying capabilities, and they were specially crafted to be trimmer without compromising on the amount it can hold. They come with a snap-in bifold and a booster, so you can customize it to the exact amount of absorbency you need.
Fitted diapers are beginner-friendly as they don’t need additional folding and closely resemble pocket diapers!
Cons:
The downside is that fitteds (excluding the Zorb) can take a bit longer to dry due to their many absorbent layers. They also are on the higher end of the price range that Highland Baby offers (though we work extremely hard to minimize the cost & make sure excellent quality diapers are available for all cloth families)!
Our Contours
Pros:
Our contours blend the characteristics of a fitted and a preflat, resulting in a distinctive design. They feature an hourglass shape similar to fitteds & belly tabs similar to preflats. Again, like preflats, contours tend to be a trimmer option for parents. And are acknowledged for their effortless washing & rapid drying capabilities. The primary absorbency comes from the 9-layer trifolds. The length adjustment is simple by folding the rise down, while the super stretchy contour shell streamlines the folding procedure. Our standard contours come with trifolds that are made with Geffen Baby hemp, which is known for being remarkably soft, flexible, and for its high hemp content.
Our Heavy Wetter Contours feature an additional layer in the shell (3 total), a trifold, & an additional booster, offering maximum absorbency and leak protection. These make our HWC a great option for overnight use!
Users commend the contoured shells for their effectiveness in easily creating a snug leg seal.
Cons:
Since our contours are already in their diaper shape, there is a little less room for customization in where you can strategically place the bulk of your absorbency. With the trifolds, it’s more of a full coverage option, as opposed to a preflat where you can strategically place more layers in your desired “wet zone”. Contours also require the use of snappis or pins to sec use them.
Highland Baby offers a range of cloth diapering options to suit different preferences and needs. Whether you prioritize luxurious absorbency, customized comfort, heavy wetter solutions, or advanced absorbency, there's a perfect match waiting for you and your little one.
